Dudesong

In 2009 I took a second job as a desk security guard so I’d have somewhere to sit and translate The Big Lebowski into iambic pentameter in rhyming couplets.  Ten months and 5200+ lines later, it is complete.

I wrote Dudesong while working as a lobby attendant at Simple Studios, which is the absolute best rehearsal space in New York City.  If not for Ali Farahnakian and Desiree Nash taking me in there, this poem would just have been a pipe dream.

Thanks as well to Toni from Queens for calling up the old country to get a translation for “black steer’s tuckus” in Italian.

Phil, would it have killed you to say that the place you worked was Simple Studios, a patron of the poetry arts, that encouraged you to write while working at the finest rehearsal space in NYC.
